Top Kilson
Top is not just a musical art-link, but a laborist, romancing the ROCK! Bassist / songwriter / multi-instrumentalist. Top Kilson (aka Top Secret) a Philadelphia, PA native, developed his music skills playing drums and percussions in his early-teens, then moved to bass.
He found jazz through his father, Pop, and heart-felt shades of blues from his mom. It turned into a journey of discovering roots in the delta - opening doors to Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson, Johnny Winters, Jimi and the British invasion. During the school years, he jammed with jazz legends Max Roaches Sextet and Stanley Clarks Band 'Live'
Top also recorded and toured the Mid-west & east coast as a member of 'Ron E. Kayfield's SAINTS AND SINNERS' - his long-time friend and broski. Saints and Sinners was a theatrical outlet that enforced a strong bottom end to the music.
Top met Ron many, many moons ago through a battle of the bands competition at the Upper Darby High School. The members of his band 'Redbush' went there and he was there to watch the concert with them. Ron was in the process of forming his band 'Springhouse', which went on to win the competition, and was struggling with the bass players lack of ability. Ron says of Top, 'All of a sudden the bass sounded great and I turned around to see Top playing. He saved the show for me.' They've been friends ever since!
And now he has reunited with his longtime friend Ron E. Kayfield for this new project 'Guitar Legends'.
Once again with friends......so let it ROCK!
